Æloha Surfers
The days are finally getting longer, the water a little less cold, and that familiar itch to get back on the water is setting in. It’s time to reconnect — with the sea, the club, and all your surf buddies. Before we kick off the season on May 1st, here’s everything you need to know to get ready for those windy days.
1. General Assembly
Our General Assembly on March 19th was a great success – full of engaged members, good vibes, and plenty of pizza. If you missed it, you can find the summary here: [LINK TO SUMMARY]
Here are the key takeaways:
No changes to the annual fee — it stays the same for all membership types and will, as usual, be charged on May 1st.
Due to increased supplier costs, becoming a key holder now costs 1,025 DKK (500 DKK is a deposit).
The board remains unchanged: Karen Skærlund Risvig, Lars Manfeld Andersen, Dritan Cero, Louise Bro Pedersen, Gunnar Stumm, Johannes Greisen, Mads Christensen, Cecilie Bay Wirenfeldt, and Therese Hansen.
Project2025 is still moving forward – slowly but surely. In 2024, we developed a catalogue of ideas with the skillful help of Primus Motor, based on input from members, young surfers, and the board. We presented the catalogue to Københavns Kommune in late 2024, and the feedback was very positive. This will serve as the foundation for our fundraising and grant applications, which we plan to begin this year.
At the same time, we’re continuing work on transitioning our current lease into a right of use agreement — a change we hope to finalize this summer. If successful, it will provide stronger long-term security, allowing us to stay on the premises as long as we operate the club within the agreed terms.
Lastly, we still need helping hands in our club teams. Want to shape events like the summer party or help organize trips? Get involved! No volunteers means no social events – it’s as simple as that.
2. Last Chance to Complete Your 2024 Workday
With the new season kicking off, a quick reminder: if you haven’t completed your 2024 workday, the 500 DKK fee will be charged on May 1st. But there's still time to get it done.
- Saturday, April 12th, 10:00 – Beach Clean-Up
Two awesome members have taken the initiative to organize a beach clean-up — and everyone’s welcome to join and show Strandparken some love. This isn’t an official club workday, but if you participate and send a few photos afterward to helgolandsurfers@gmail.com, it will count as your 2024 workday. - Saturday, April 26th, 12:00 – Club Prep Day
Let’s get the gear and clubhouse ready for the upcoming season! We’ll clean, sweep, fix what needs fixing, and make sure everything is in top shape. Your participation will count as a workday.
3. Check Your Card Before May 1st
Another small reminder! Your membership fee will be charged on May 1st, so please make sure your payment card is up to date in your Klubmodul account.
If you want to change your membership status, please email us at helgolandsurfers@gmail.com as soon as possible.
And don’t forget to double-check your account after May 1st to make sure the payment went through correctly.
4. Helgo Hangout Every Thursday
We know you've missed it all winter - our wonderful weekly Helgo Hangout. Join your fellow surfers every Thursday at the clubhouse for a chill, drink, a bit of BBQ, or just to hang out and catch up.
The first Helgo Hangout of the season is on Thursday, May 1st at 6:30 PM – hosted by Henriette Nellemann Sørensen.
Want to host a Helgo Hangout yourself? It counts as a workday, and you can find all the details on what that involves right here: [HOST TO DO].
